I was going to have a ‘professionally written,’ third person, salt & pepper bullet-point ‘About Me’ drafted but, I wanted to do something outside of the box; something that ties me into how we operate here at lalande.
It began 18 years ago on my 18th birthday. Before heading off to college, my mother made me get my real estate license. I was peeved that she bought me an exam for my birthday (literally – had to take the exam on my birthday) but didn’t yet realize what it would mean to me today. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine, debt free thanks to my 18th birthday present. So, instead of pursuing a job related to my education, I wanted to take a chance on the industry that paid for it.
I got myself a broker’s license and took a job at an acquisition company in 2010. During my time with the company; we purchased, rehabbed, and sold well over 1,000 homes; My job entailed valuing deals, bidding on property in short notice, and eventually looking over the construction. I learned a tremendous amount about local trends and valuing property in Los Angeles County.
I remember reaching a plateau but my appetite for growth wasn’t quenched. So, in a bid to expand my knowledge I joined a family run construction company where I wrote bids for potential jobs and created a bidding formula which was eventually used industry-wide. I ended up generating over 600 bids in the LA area and was offered to start a new market for the company. I ended up in Seattle for 2 years and successfully expanded their business, which is still thriving today.
In 2021, I co-founded ‘a home company’ LaLande Estates. The first real estate company with design, build, and a concierge element which really deviates from the traditional brokerage model.
